Today was a happy and sad day in St Marks. We wished Mrs Banks a happy and long retirement. For the last 30 years she has been the cleaner in St Marks and every child knew her by name. She was constantly smiling and a friend to every one in the school, old and young. We celebrated Mass in St Brendan's Church along with Mrs Bank's family where the boys sang hymns, presented gifts and said prayers of the faithful. Next we went back to the school hall where Ms Coffey led the tributes and thanks. Presents were given from the staff and the school and the cake was cut. It was a lovely occasion and a fitting tribute to a wonderful woman. No doubt we'll see her around the school again in future.
